Christmas 2017, A Review

Friends,

It’s been a few weeks. I apologize. I got sucked into holiday mayhem. I promised myself I wouldn’t do it. But I did. Parties, programs, presents, and more presents. There it was. Staring me in the face for weeks.

We also lost two fur babies a few days before Christmas. Completely unexpected and unrelated. It was a nightmare. A surreal nightmare. My apologies that this blog post suddenly seems so depressing. We said goodbye to our seven year old American/English bulldog on Thursday and our 14 year old golden mutt on Friday. My husband and I are completely exhausted and didn’t sleep well for a good four to five days. There is a sadness that is kind of lingering for us both. Three of our kids are too young to process exactly what happened. My oldest, Judah, is eight; Chase the bulldog was his dog. He cried often for two days, but has since been able to carry on. I keep looking for my girl Maggie. She isn’t there. It’s like my heart can’t process what my brain already knows.

Life. It’s such an interesting journey. (Deep sigh).

On Christmas Eve I had the opportunity to preach during our Sunday morning service. I love to preach. Love. Love. Love to preach. I was able to share the importance of the name Jesus, Immanuel, and related scripture from Isaiah 9:6. He is our Savior. He is with us. He is our Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace. Beautifully presented to us on Christmas. So we gather and celebrate and worship. What an awesome God we serve!

We gathered with family as much as we possibly could for three days, and then crashed. Ha. There is nothing greater than family. Let me add, that family is not always flesh and blood. I have many family members that God has gifted me through the body of Christ. It’s an incredible benefit to being part of His Kingdom.

So here we are. Christmas 2017 has come and gone. We are about to embark on 2018. I am ready! Are you? Tell me what dreams you have for 2018. What are you anticipating and looking forward to? I am officially stepping away from my role as Youth Pastor on December 31. It’s definitely bittersweet. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for me next. I have some goals and dreams, but I am really not sure what He will do with me. Ha! The next adventure is about to begin and I am so excited!
